A vital emergency response vehicle funded by Arrive Alive Charity is back on the road serving the Dudley community after the previous vehicle was written off when it was struck by another car whilst parked.
Thankfully, nobody was injured in the incident, but the damage was extensive enough for the vehicle to be declared a total loss.
Although the insurance settlement covered a significant proportion of the replacement cost, there was still a financial shortfall. As a charity funded entirely through donations, Arrive Alive Charity secured additional funding to ensure the replacement vehicle could be purchased and returned to frontline service without delay.
The new vehicle has now been collected by Community First Responders Dan and Carl and is already back in operation, responding to 999 medical emergencies across Dudley as part of the West Midlands Ambulance Service Community First Responder scheme.
Debbie Roscoe, Founder of Arrive Alive Charity, said:
“Losing one of our response vehicles was a real setback, but thanks to the support of our donors and the additional funding we secured, we were determined to get another vehicle back on the road as quickly as possible. Every one of our vehicles plays an important role in supporting local communities and helping medically trained volunteers reach patients when every minute counts.”
The charity also thanked the insurance company for its fantastic support throughout the claims process, helping to make the replacement as straightforward as possible.
Arrive Alive Charity currently funds 18 emergency response vehicles operated by volunteer Community First Responders across the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Coventry and surrounding areas. Between June 2024 and June 2026, Arrive Alive funded vehicles responded to more than 8,000 medical emergencies after being dispatched following 999 calls to the ambulance service.
As a charity that receives no government or NHS funding, Arrive Alive relies entirely on the generosity of businesses, community groups and members of the public to fund its lifesaving work.
